ArtDayMe: On October 3rd and 4th , the Islamic Azad University Dubai Branch will host an art exhibition bringing together three fields: painting, photography, and calligraphy. The event is organized by Dr. Shahrzad Tahery, Head of the Art Department at Islamic Azad University Dubai, in collaboration with the Sakku Art.

Dr.Shahrzad Tahery is an Iranian artist who, through organizing and participating in numerous international exhibitions in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East, has established her place as one of the active figures in contemporary art. She holds a Ph.D. in Visual Arts with a focus on Painting from Georgia, and her works have been published in prestigious outlets such as Gulf Today (UAE) and the MIIT Museum (Italy). She has also received international awards, including First Prize at Dubai Art Expo, and today, residing in Dubai, she continues her artistic journey on a global scale.

_ Where did the idea of holding this art exhibition come from and what is its purpose?

Shahrzad Tahery: The idea of organizing this exhibition stemmed from the belief in the profound role of art in improving both social and individual well-being. In a context where doctors play a vital role in the health of society, we decided to hold an art exhibition to honor physicians while also creating a platform for the convergence of art and spirituality.

_Why did you decide to combine painting, photography, and calligraphy together?

Shahrzad Tahery : All three disciplines are a shared language of emotion and thought. Placing them side by side allows the audience to experience a wider spectrum of artistic expression and helps foster a deeper connection between art and society.

_What criteria were considered for selecting or accepting works for this exhibition?

Shahrzad Tahery : Our main criteria were artistic quality, creativity, and the connection of the work with the overall spirit of the exhibition. We aimed to provide a space where both young artists and established figures could present their works together. However, the selection process was less strict for healthcare professionals, in order to support and encourage their participation.

_How did the cooperation with Islamic Azad University Dubai Branch come about, and what role does it play in the quality of the event?

Shahrzad Tahery : Islamic Azad University Dubai, with its cultural and international outlook, has provided a valuable platform for hosting this event. This collaboration not only enhances the academic and cultural credibility of the exhibition but also turns the university environment into a place for direct interaction between artists and the community.

_Tell us about your cooperation with the Sakku Art . How did this collaboration take shape?

Shahrzad Tahery: Our cooperation with the Sakku Art Institute was built on years of successful experience. The professional management and skilled team of Sakku Art played a key role from the stage of the open call to execution. This synergy ensured that the exhibition was organized with a high level of quality and coherence.

_ How does this exhibition help in introducing or supporting artists, and what are your plans regarding awards?

Shahrzad Tahery: This exhibition provides an opportunity for artists to showcase their works in an international environment and engage directly with audiences. To encourage and motivate participants, part of the program includes awarding prizes by lottery among the contributors, which not only brings excitement but also strengthens the spirit of participation.

_After this exhibition, do you have plans to continue or expand this event in other cities or fields?

Shahrzad Tahery: Yes, this exhibition is the beginning of a cultural journey. Our goal is to continue these events and expand them into other fields and cities. Islamic Azad University Dubai also offers great potential for continuing this path in the future.

_What are your future plans?

Shahrzad Tahery: Our focus is on expanding artistic activities with a social approach—projects that not only elevate the status of art but also have a positive impact on society. We hope, with the cooperation of cultural and academic institutions, to continue this path with even greater strength and quality.
