Jazeh Tabatabai and the Earthenware of Susa in the Raha Gallery Collection

The traces of goats on the painted ceramics of ancient Susa find their way into the gazelles of Persian poetry and Iranian miniature in this painting, which has endured for more than half a century. The fusion of the “mythical animal” with “geometric abstraction” embodies a quest for identity—one that remains distinctly Eastern and Iranian, yet resonates in dialogue with international modern art.

ABOUT US

The new Middle East is created via art The classical, modern, and contemporary arts of the Middle East are all represented in ArtDayMe, an art medium about the area. Despite being the cradle of human civilization and having a rich history of ancient arts, the Middle East's art was lost to history by the middle of the 19th century. The world's interest in modern art from the Middle East, however, was refocused around the year 2000. By the spring of 2023, at the same time that ArtDayMe was launched, the region's contemporary art has also achieved significant mobility and even managed to keep up with developments on a global scale. New chapters will be added to the history of art, and this time at least one of them will be written in the Middle East
