ArtDayME: A retrospective exhibition titled “MARWAN: A Soul in Exile” is now open at Christie’s London and will run until 22 August. The exhibition features paintings, works on paper, and editions spanning from 1953 to 2014, offering a rare opportunity to explore the unique and inspiring oeuvre of MARWAN.
The exhibition traces the artist’s journey from his early beginnings in Damascus, Syria, to his later works created in Berlin, Germany — his adopted homeland. Highlights include early figurations, iconic Facial Landscapes, and the haunting Marionette series.
MARWAN once reflected on his deep connection to his heritage, stating: “It’s me, my identity. I cannot imagine life without this sense of being rooted in the soil.”
Open daily throughout July and closed on weekends in August, the exhibition is free and open to the public.
