ArtDayMe: Sohrab Gallery, Tehran, is participating in the 17th edition of Abu Dhabi Art at Booth S27, featuring a dedicated presentation of remarkable works by the celebrated Iranian artist Sadegh Tabrizi. Mehrdad Fallah and Shahin Torkaman serve as the curators of this exhibition at Abu Dhabi Art in the UAE.
The 17th edition of Abu Dhabi Art will be held from 19 to 23 November in the Saadiyat Cultural District of the UAE capital.
For the first time, the masterworks of the late Sadegh Tabrizi—whose artworks have appeared in nearly 150 international and regional auctions over the past half-century—will be exhibited at an art fair in the Middle East.
Tabrizi first attracted the attention of professional collectors in 1973, when his works were featured in the very first Tehran Auction. Since then, for more than five decades, his works have been consistently presented at nearly 150 reputable regional and international auctions, including Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Bonhams, and Tehran Auction, receiving significant attention from collectors.

Tabrizi’s 1971 exhibition at Galerie Paris was a true turning point in his career. It was there that Michel Tapié, the influential critic and authority of the Art Informel movement, made his rare and emphatic remark, describing Tabrizi’s work as “high art.” This recognition not only drew European attention to Iran’s modernist art but also emboldened Tabrizi on a path that would later establish him as a central figure of Iranian modern art.

The curators of this exceptional presentation of Sadegh Tabrizi are two prominent figures in Iranian art:
Mehrdad Fallah, an accomplished painter with a distinctive style, has held successful exhibitions in the UK, Switzerland, Austria, the United States, and various auction platforms. He is known as a continuer and revitalizer of a certain branch of Iranian painting and the Saqqakhaneh School. The late Sadegh Tabrizi was Mehrdad Fallah’s maternal uncle.
Shahin Torkaman is the director of Sohrab Gallery in Tehran. For more than two decades, he has played an influential role in the development of Iran’s modernist and contemporary art scenes, collaborating closely with many masters and leading figures of Iranian art.

Sohrab Gallery’s booth is now open at Booth S27 at Abu Dhabi Art 2025.
