Mounira Al Solh to Represent Lebanon at Venice Biennale 2024
Lebanon Participates at the 60th La Biennale di Venezia.
ArtDayME: Mounira Al Solh has been selected as the featured artist for the Lebanese Pavilion, where she intertwines myth and reality in her diverse multimedia installation, “A Dance with her Myth.”
Through the seamless integration of painting, drawing, sculpture, embroidery, and video, Al Solh invites visitors to explore the essence of ancient Phoenicia through contemporary artistic techniques. This immersive experience, set against the backdrop of enduring Greco-Phoenician myth, offers a fresh perspective on present-day events shedding light on the challenges faced by women in our contemporary world.
Nada Ghandour has been also appointed as commissioner and curator and Dina Bizri as the associate curator of the Lebanese Pavilion. The pavilion will be located in the Arsenal and is produced by the Lebanese Visual Art Association (LVAA), a non-profit organization established in Paris, France.
The 60th International Art Exhibition, titled Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere, will open to the public from Saturday April 20 to Sunday November 24, 2024, at the Giardini and the Arsenale; it will be curated by Adriano Pedrosa and organised by La Biennale di Venezia. The pre-opening will take place on April 17, 18 and 19; the awards ceremony and inauguration will be held on 20 April 2024.
