Louvre Abu Dhabi announces jury and shortlisted artists for the 2025 Richard Mille Art Prize

The annual exhibition, celebrating contemporary artistic practices, will take place under the museum’s iconic dome from 11 October to 28 December 2025.

ArtDayME: Louvre Abu Dhabi and Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille have announced the shortlisted artists and jury members for the fifth edition of Art Here and the prestigious Richard Mille Art Prize. The annual exhibition, celebrating contemporary artistic practices, will take place under the museum’s iconic dome from 11 October to 28 December 2025.

Curated by Sophie Mayuko Arni, this year’s edition invites artists to respond to the theme “Shadows,” exploring the interplay of light and absence, visibility and concealment, and the layered dimensions of memory, identity, and transformation.

More than 500 proposals were submitted for consideration. From these, six proposals by seven artists were selected for the final exhibition—each offering a distinct interpretation of the theme through a range of mediums including digital performance, immersive installations, spatial research, and contemporary approaches to Islamic art.

The shortlisted artists are:

Ahmed Al-Aqra (Palestine) – An architect and researcher whose work integrates art, philosophy, and spatial theory.

Jumairy (UAE) – An artist-musician known for creating digital performances that blur the boundaries between physical and virtual realities.

Ryoichi Kurokawa (Japan) – A media artist combining sound and visuals to produce immersive sensory experiences.

Hamra Abbas (Pakistan/UAE) – An artist who revisits Islamic aesthetics through contemporary lenses of gender, faith, and identity.

Rintaro Fuse (Japan) – A multidisciplinary artist working across painting, poetry, and film to explore themes of urban alienation.

YOKOMAE et BOUAYAD (Japan/Morocco) – A collaborative duo consisting of Takuma Yokomae and Dr. Ghali Bouayad, merging the design languages of Tokyo and Marrakesh.

The jury for the 2025 edition includes:

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan – Cultural patron and advisor.

Dr. Guilhem André – Director of Scientific, Curatorial, and Collections Management at Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Maya Allison – Executive Director of The Art Gallery at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Yuko Hasegawa – International curator and professor at Tama Art University in Tokyo.

Sophie Mayuko Arni – This year’s guest curator and founder of Global Art Daily, known for her efforts in fostering Gulf–Japan cultural dialogue.

The winner of the 2025 Richard Mille Art Prize will be announced following the exhibition’s opening in October.
