ArtDayMe: Art has always been a way for humanity to understand itself — a language that preserves memories, questions the present and imagines possible futures. This season, museums, foundations and galleries across the UAE are presenting exhibitions that explore what it means to be human in a rapidly changing world. From personal stories of resilience and reflections on identity to conversations around technology, nature and cultural exchange, these exhibitions reveal the diversity and depth of the region’s creative landscape.

Across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, artists are using painting, photography, sculpture, installation and interactive experiences to examine the connections between people, places and histories. Together, these exhibitions show how art can create spaces for dialogue, empathy and discovery.

Iris Projects

One of the season’s most powerful exhibitions is Interoception at Iris Projects, where Emirati artist Juma Al Haj transforms personal experiences of uncertainty and emotional disruption into expressive abstract paintings. Inspired by moments of crisis, the works explore how individuals absorb, process and remember difficult experiences. Through layered surfaces, fragmented forms and gestural marks, Al Haj turns private emotions into a broader reflection on resilience and the human ability to recover.

Bassam Freiha Art Foundation

At Seeing Ourselves at Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, a new generation of Emirati photographers presents their own perspectives on the UAE. Developed in collaboration with students from Zayed University, the exhibition moves beyond traditional documentation, allowing young artists to explore identity, architecture, landscapes and everyday life through their own visual narratives. The project highlights the importance of giving emerging voices the opportunity to represent their communities from within.

Manarat Al Saadiyat

Photography expands into a wider artistic language at Spectrum: Becoming Visible, Becoming Image at Manarat Al Saadiyat. Featuring the work of UAE-based photographers and visual artists, the exhibition explores how images can become vessels for memory, identity and imagination. Through photography, video, sculpture and mixed-media installations, the artists examine themes ranging from nature and heritage to personal experience and contemporary life

Carbon 12

At Carbon 12, The Two Walks: Works on Paper Selected by Judy Karkour celebrates paper as a complete and expressive medium rather than simply a preparation tool. Bringing together works by fourteen artists, the exhibition explores drawing, collage and mixed-media practices that reflect on memory, environmental concerns, urban transformation and emotional landscapes. The works demonstrate how a simple material can carry complex personal and cultural narratives.

Technology and humanity meet in Human in the Loop at 421 Arts Campus, where artist and engineer Ahmad AlAttar creates an immersive installation inspired by robotics and artificial intelligence. Visitors interact with a hidden algorithm through sound and movement, becoming part of the artwork itself. The exhibition raises questions about control, awareness and the evolving relationship between humans and intelligent systems.

Isabelle Gallery 

At Gallery Isabelle, In Plain Sight by Emirati artist Alia Zaal offers an intimate exploration of the UAE landscape. Through paintings, works on paper and ceramics inspired by locations such as Al Khawaneej and Abu Dhabi’s mangroves, Zaal examines how landscapes are shaped by memory, technology and personal perception. Her works encourage viewers to reconsider familiar environments and notice the details that often go unseen.

Efie Gallery

In Abstracto, In Concreto: On Memory and Presence at Efie Gallery brings together artists of African descent whose works explore identity, migration and belonging. Through painting and drawing, the exhibition examines the relationship between the human figure, cultural memory and imagined worlds. The artists challenge traditional ideas of representation, showing how abstraction can reveal complex experiences of movement, heritage and connection.

Sharjah Art Foundation

At Sharjah Art Foundation, Body Quotidian brings together Laila Majid and Inaam Zafar in an exploration of the human body through sculpture, photography and painting. Rather than presenting the body as a fixed image, the artists approach it through fragments, materials and everyday experiences. The exhibition reflects on themes of intimacy, vulnerability, transformation and the ways bodies are understood in contemporary society.

The latest edition of Vantage Point 13 continues Sharjah Art Foundation’s commitment to contemporary photography, presenting newly commissioned works by six artists selected through an international open call. The exhibition highlights the evolving role of photography as a medium for storytelling, social reflection and artistic experimentation, while supporting artists in developing ambitious new projects.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

At Louvre Abu Dhabi, A Board Game Adventure offers a journey through thousands of years of human connection and cultural exchange. Exploring the histories of games such as chess, Mancala, Ludo and Carrom, the exhibition reveals how play has travelled across civilizations and brought people together throughout history. Combining rare artefacts with interactive experiences, it presents games as cultural objects that reflect creativity, strategy and the universal human desire to connect.
