Elham Azimi and Her 18-Year Journey with Vesta Color

The joint project between Vesta Color and Mojdeh Gallery was launched with the goal of supporting artistic talent and shaping a new artistic ecosystem to foster the development of art. Among the participating artists is Elham Azimi, a young painter who has been professionally pursuing painting for over a decade.

ArtDayMe : As part of this initiative, Elham Azimi has gifted a unique artwork—created using a variety of Vesta Color products—to Vesta.

This untitled piece, measuring 100×100 centimeters, was created in 2024 using acrylic on canvas.

On this occasion, we sat down for a conversation with the artist:

Tell us about your artistic background.

Elham Azimi : I was born in Tehran in 1991. I hold a diploma in painting from the Tehran Girls’ School of Visual Arts, a bachelor's degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran, and a master’s degree in painting from Alzahra University.

I began my professional career in 2015 in the fields of drawing, painting, and printmaking. Since then, I have held three solo exhibitions and participated in dozens of group exhibitions. I am a full member of the Iranian Painters Association, and I currently dedicate part of my time to teaching art.

Can you tell us about your painting collections?

Elham Azimi : The “Patchwork Identity” series was exhibited in 2019. It featured portraits of contemporary individuals whose identities are caught between decay and renewal—layered beings rendered with dried and recycled paints.

Then in 2022, I exhibited “I Am the Earth, You Are the Tree” at Mojdeh Gallery. The collection explored nature in the absence of humanity during the pandemic, highlighting transformation and regeneration through textured layers of dried paint.

What are you currently working on?

Elham Azimi : I’m working on a new collection that explores psychological states and human emotions, which will be presented in the form of sculptures and three-dimensional forms.

What’s your most important upcoming plan?

Elham Azimi : The most important project ahead is to bring this new collection to completion. It’s a demanding process that involves research, conceptualization, experimentation, and a great deal of focus.

Tell us about the artwork you created for the joint Vesta–Mojdeh project

Elham Azimi : This piece was created entirely intuitively and emotionally, with nature as its central theme. It depicts a tangle of trees dancing in interplay with light, color, and shadow. The trees are rendered in semi-relief with dried layers of paint, conveying a deep sense of life.

How long have you been familiar with Vesta Color products?

Elham Azimi : Since my high school days—around 18 years ago. The first Vesta product I ever used was oil paint, which still brings back nostalgic memories.

If you had to recommend just one Vesta product to other artists, which would it be?

Elham Azimi : I would definitely recommend Vesta's acrylic Color.

What is your opinion on the Vesta–Mojdeh collaborative project?

Elham Azimi : It’s a novel and impactful initiative that strengthens the bond between the artist and the professional/industrial entity behind the tools they use. Historically, supporting artists has always been vital for the growth and preservation of art.

At the same time, this kind of direct engagement between the producer (Vesta) and the artist (as end-user) establishes a mutual relationship that highlights product quality—a clear sign of professionalism and a commitment to quality over quantity.

Such collaborations not only sustain the art community but also stimulate the broader cultural landscape.
