ArtDayME: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) is presenting “Hubb | Love,” a solo exhibition by renowned artist Shahida Ahmed, at Building 18 – Gallery 2. The exhibition is currently on view and will run until September 12.

Featuring 24 paintings and three installations, “Hubb | Love” offers a contemporary perspective on love as a universal language that transcends borders, cultures, and linguistic differences, while highlighting its role in building bridges of communication and understanding among people.

Through a vibrant collection of contemporary artworks, the exhibition explores the universal theme of love through visual art, symbolism, and Arabic calligraphic influences. Blending colour, geometry, and cultural motifs, Shahida Ahmed’s work reflects themes of connection, identity, spirituality, and human relationships while celebrating the richness of artistic heritage. Visitors are invited into a captivating visual journey where tradition meets contemporary creativity, offering fresh perspectives on one of humanity’s most enduring values.

Speaking about her intention for the exhibition, Shahida Ahmed said that love is a human language that needs no translation, and that art can express it in ways that go beyond words and geographical borders. Through these artworks, she aims to show that “love” is not simply a written word, but the embodiment of a feeling and a visual experience that any human can sense.

Ahmed noted that Arabic calligraphy possesses beauty and visual richness and has been a key inspiration in her work. She explained that she found in Arabic letters an opportunity to discover the relationships between words, forms, colours, and light.

She added that “Hubb | Love” seeks to reflect the values of peace, solidarity, and communication, and to open doors for dialogue between cultures through art.

Shahida Ahmed is an award-winning contemporary British artist. She is also a writer and podcast presenter. Her work is themed around language, identity, culture, and human connection.
