Ala Younis at NYUAD Art Gallery: Past of a Temporal Universe

Ala Younis’ archival installations, textiles, murals, mosaics, and drawings make subtle, startling connections among political, social, urban, and popular imaginaries.

ArtDayME: "Ala Younis: Past of a Temporal Universe" is now open at the NYUAD Art Gallery.

Ala Younis’ archival installations, textiles, murals, mosaics, and drawings make subtle, startling connections among political, social, urban, and popular imaginaries.

Informed by her training in architecture and visual cultures, Younis’ projects center on the physical developments and narrative intersections of the Arab geographies in which she grew up, frequently drawing from a wide range of formal and informal archives.

Ala Younis is an artist, with curatorial, film and publishing projects. Using objects, film and printed matter, she often seeks instances where historical and political events collapse into personal ones. She holds a BSc. in Architecture from University of Jordan and MRes in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Visit the exhibition at the NYUAD Art Gallery from 12–8 PM, Tuesdays–Sundays.
