ArtDayMe : After a five-year hiatus, Boom Gallery has returned with an impressive exhibition featuring a selection of captivating paintings by the late Afshin Pirhashemi.

Thirty-one of Pirhashemi’s paintings, created between 2008 and 2011, are now on display at Boom Gallery—some being presented to the public for the first time. This marks the first solo exhibition of the artist’s works since his untimely passing on December 7, 2024, at the age of fifty.

The exhibition opens with four works from the Surah Al-Fatiha series, painted in oil on canvas (100 × 100 cm, 2009). These calligraphic compositions blend spiritual text and abstract expression, where Pirhashemi layers Quranic verses beneath dynamic, gestural brushwork.

True to his well-known artistic taste, most of the works are “Untitled.” Paintings from his X, Rome, Wine of Love, Dream (from The Thousand and One Nights series), and Domain of Security series are also featured on the gallery walls.

Among them, eight triptychs stand out with striking visual power and conceptual depth.

The exhibition also includes the screening of the documentary “A Look at the Works of Afshin Pirhashemi,” directed by Nazgol Hashemnia. Produced by Azadeh Saljouqi in the fall of 2010, the film features commentary by Fatima Yathribi, Behzad Hatam, Alireza Sami Azar, Behnam Kamrani, Beita Vakili, and Kamran Kamrani. The production crew included Ali Soleimanian (cinematography), Amin Sehat-Chi (sound), Ehsan Jafari (editing), and Rezvan Bahri (photography).

The Exhibition of Selected Works by Afshin Pirhashemi continues at Boom Gallery, located on Valiasr Avenue, above the Niayesh intersection, Najaf Daryabandari Street (West Armaghan), No. 11, until December 18, 2025.
