Fourteen artworks from the collection of the Barjeel Art Foundation at Venice Biennale

ArtDayME: Fourteen artworks from the collection of the Barjeel Art Foundation are now on view at the Central Pavilion at Giardini, part of the 60th Venice Biennale “Foreigners Everywhere”, curated by Adriano Pedrosa. 

The collection includes the following works:

- Ahmed Morsi, “Self Portrait”, 1970.

- Dia al-Azzawi, “A Wolf Howls: Memories of a Poet”, 1968.

- Faiq Hassan, “Bedouin Tent”, 1950.

- Gazbia Sirry, “Portrait of a Nubian Family”, 1962.

- Hatim El Mekki, “La Femme et le Coq”, 1950s.

- Hamed Ewais (Owais), “Le Gardien de la vie”, 1967–68.

- Ibrahim  El-Salahi, “The Last Sound”, 1964.

- Mariam Abdel-Aleem, “Clinic”, 1958.

- Marie Hadad, Untitled, n.d. (circa 1930s).

- Nazek Hamdi, The Lotus Girl, 1955.

- Ramses Younan, “Portrait”, n.d.

- Mohammed Issiakhem, “Femme et Mur”, 1980.

- Baya, “Femme a la Robe Rose”, 1945.

The 60th International Art Exhibition will take place from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November, 2024 (pre-opening on April 17, 18 and 19), curated by Adriano Pedrosa.

Barjeel Art Foundation is a non-profit arts organisation based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The foundation was established in 2010 by Emirati commentator Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi to manage and exhibit his personal art collection. There are over 1,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art in the foundation's art collection.
