Mehrdad Fallah and His Second Exhibition in the United States / Eight Sales in Austria

Today, Mehrdad Fallah’s second exhibition in the United States opened in Virginia, featuring three of his major series.

ArtDayMe – Following his recent exhibition in Austria, Mehrdad Fallah has sent ten of his calligraphic-painting works to Virginia, USA, where he is presenting Persian Whispers alongside two other artists.

The exhibition, showcasing works by three Iranian artists—Mehrdad Fallah, Hamid Hadinejad, and Golnaz Shovalmanesh—opened on 16 November and will run through 14 December 2025 at Arian Gallery, located within the Pars Place complex in Virginia.

The show highlights a fresh dimension of contemporary Iranian art. In a dialogue between tradition and the present, the exhibition foregrounds the personal narratives and formal experiments of the three artists through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Speaking about the details of the show, Mehrdad Fallah said:

“I am exhibiting ten works from my Lions, Roosters, and Qur’anic calligraphic series. This is my second exhibition in the United States; my previous one was held at Seihoun Gallery in Washington. This time, under the curatorship of Mehdi Rouhani, I am showing my works alongside two other artists at Arian Gallery in Virginia.”

Elaborating on the exhibition title and his visual approach, Fallah added:

“Persian Whispers for me is a quiet yet resonant voice—a sound that emerges from the heart of line and form. It compels me to create a living bridge between tradition and the present by intertwining calligraphic-painting, figuration, and contemporary color treatment. In this exhibition, together with Hamid Hadinejad and Golnaz Shovalmanesh, each of us articulates a part of that voice: Hadinejad with the energetic rhythm of color and texture; Ms. Shovalmanesh through her meticulous re-reading of miniature painting; and myself with a calligraphy that gradually transforms into figure—from lions and roosters to prayers taking shape. We have tried to invite viewers into a quiet conversation—one that neither dwells in nostalgia nor severs itself from its roots. I hope this whisper is heard in the silence of the gallery, allowing each visitor to find their own personal narrative of contemporary Iranian art.”

Fallah—who recently held a successful solo exhibition at the Otto-Mauer-Zentrum cultural center in Vienna—also described the European audience’s response:

“The Vienna exhibition drew a large audience and due to the strong public reception, it was extended for an additional week. Eight of the fourteen works I exhibited were sold. European audiences are intensely engaged and curious, and they found it particularly compelling that the show was grounded in the visual subtleties of Iranian culture.”
