Zawyeh Gallery hosts Mohammed Joha’s latest artistic exploration

ArtDayME: The exhibition of Palestinian artist Mohammed Joha is currently on view at Zawyeh Gallery, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. In his latest show, Houselessness, Joha redefines collage not merely as a visual technique but as an architecture of rupture and reassembly, both a method and a metaphor. His works bring together scraps of fabric, paper, cardboard, plastic, and other salvaged materials to form compressed, dynamic topographies.

Visible seams, layered textures, and overlapping materials convey a sense of fragility and immediacy, while tumultuous fields of grey are punctuated by glimpses of vivid color—cobalt blue, canary yellow, pink, purple, and green—alongside fragments of pattern, lace, tartan, and decorative swirls. These elements transform the canvas into a site of construction and renewal, where life and memory are expressed through form, texture, and color.

Rooted in the practice of collage, Joha’s work echoes global traditions of adaptation and creativity, yet carries a distinctly contemporary urgency. His canvases become not only representations of layered complexity and collapse but also spaces of dignity, care, and artistic reconstruction.

The exhibition continues until 11 January 2026.
