ArtDayMe : Mojdeh Gallery, one of the leading spaces in Iran’s modern and contemporary art scene, was founded on October 18, 1999 and this year celebrated its 26th anniversary. A number of artists gathered at the gallery to congratulate Mojdeh Tabatabaei and her colleagues on this meaningful and joyous occasion.

One of the key features of private art institutions in developed countries is their continuity and endurance, as such longevity allows cultural roots to deepen and flourish. Unfortunately, this has rarely been the case in the Middle East; yet, in recent decades, the emergence of art galleries and cultural institutions with a long-term vision gives reason for optimism. From this perspective, the 26th anniversary of Mojdeh Gallery is indeed a remarkable and valuable milestone.

26 Years of Mojdeh Gallery

The dynamic, evolving, and fruitful journey of Mojdeh Tabatabaei and Mojdeh Gallery began in the late 1990s and, through continuous support of both young and established artists, has grown into one of the key reference points within Iran’s visual art landscape.

Over the years, Mojdeh Gallery has not only provided a professional platform for exhibiting the works of prominent and progressive artists but has also made a significant contribution to introducing Iranian art to the international stage—through research-based exhibitions, participation in global art fairs, and collaboration with private collectors and cultural institutions.

Reflecting on this journey, Mojdeh Tabatabaei, founder and director of the gallery, explains:

As it enters its third decade, Mojdeh Gallery continues to stand as one of the most influential independent institutions shaping the discourse of modern and contemporary Iranian art.

In its second decade, Mojdeh Gallery placed particular emphasis on publishing monographs and research-based books, offering fresh perspectives on artistic trends—a serious and sustained endeavor that continues today with dedication and passion.
