In pictures: “Crowding” at Mojdeh Art Gallery featuring 15 artists
ArtDayME: The group exhibition “Crowding” has opened both in-person and online at Mojdeh Art Gallery in Tehran. This marks the first time Mojdeh Art Gallery is holding the “Crowding” exhibition simultaneously in physical and virtual formats.
The exhibition features works by prominent masters and renowned figures of Iranian art alongside younger names who share a conceptual or visual connection with the idea of “Crowding.”
Participating artists include: Manouchehr Niazi, Mehdi Sahabi, Marco Grigorian, Bahman Rezaei, Aref Geranmayeh, Azim Morakabatchi, Babak Haghi, Kiarash Yaghoubi, Ramin Shahvagh, Rouzbeh Dabiri, Elham Azimi, Kambiz Khodabandeh, Ahad Ghadiri, Khashayar Farhat, and Alireza Shahriyari.
Mojdeh Tabatabaei, director of Mojdeh Art Gallery, explained the importance of presenting the exhibition online alongside the in-person display:
“For various reasons, many art enthusiasts cannot attend exhibitions in person. Yet, these artistic events with compelling concepts deserve to reach a wider audience. The virtual version allows viewers to visit the show for months or even years afterward.
Through digital platforms and a 360-degree virtual tour, art lovers from across Iran and around the world can explore Mojdeh Gallery virtually, view the works from different angles, and access detailed information about each piece.”
Tabatabaei added: “Another distinctive aspect of this exhibition is the coexistence of works by the great masters and younger artists of Iran. Observing the technical characteristics and the human perspectives of these different generations will surely be fascinating for art enthusiasts.”
Saeed Saadat noted in the exhibition statement: “‘Crowding’ in this collection appears not merely as a physical accumulation or a compressed image, but rather as an aesthetic and phenomenological quality at the core of perception.
Figures, lines, objects, and motifs densify, creating a space where the boundary between part and whole—and between harmony and disorder—becomes fluid.
Each element, through its accumulation on the surface, participates in a network of intertwining and coexistence, evoking a quality that sometimes provokes wonder, dizziness, or contemplation rather than tranquility and clarity.
Ultimately, what seems like disorganized multiplicity at first glance reveals an inner vitality in deeper layers.
The artists in this exhibition, through their diverse approaches, reconstruct and expand our perception of multiplicity and accumulation.
In these works, meaning is found not in simplicity or balance, but in density—where beauty emerges in a novel form, and at times, this accumulation extends to the very edge of suspended meaning.”
The in-person version of the exhibition will run until October 24 at Mojdeh Art Gallery, located in Unit 1 -No.27 - East 18th St. - North Allameh Ave. - Saadat Abad - Tehran - Iran. The virtual version remains permanently accessible at mojdehart.gallery.
