From Rembrandt to Banksy: Sotheby’s brings $1 Billion Collectors’ Week to Abu Dhabi
A highlight of the week is the fine art and rare collectible exhibition.
ArtDayME: Sotheby’s is hosting its first-ever Collectors’ Week in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), bringing over $1 billion in fine art and luxury items to the UAE capital. The event runs from 2–5 December at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and will feature auctions, private sales, exhibitions, and educational talks and panels.
A highlight of the week is the fine art and rare collectible exhibition. Notable items include a major Rembrandt drawing, Klimt’s Lady with a Fan, the original Birkin bag created for Jane Birkin, and Banksy’s Girl Without Balloon.

Charles F. Stewart, CEO of Sotheby’s, said: “The UAE has rapidly become a global hub for art, luxury, and culture, and we are honored to present a world-class lineup of auctions, exhibitions, and masterclasses for the region.”

In addition, more than a dozen public talks and panel discussions will cover topics including art, design, jewelry, and cultural history, providing opportunities for attendees to engage directly with experts.

Alongside fine art, the event will showcase collectible cars and luxury auctions, including McLaren Formula 1, INDYCAR, and WEC racing cars, Jane Birkin’s personal Birkin bag, rare diamonds, and the first complete Patek Philippe Star Caliber 2000 ever offered at auction.
Beyond the auctions themselves, the week offers a platform for networking, conversation, and community-building, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as the “Capital of Collectibles.”
